ITTM Video Training

Course: For Students & Clinicians: Phase A of The ITTM: For Educational Learning and/or Implementation

Hello and a Warm-Hearted Welcome.

My name is Valerie Copping.  I am the developer of The Intergenerational Trauma Treatment Model (ITTM) and the facilitator of this course.

While I am available to answer your questions (email me at: info@theittm.com) the course has been specifically designed to be self-scheduled and self-guided. You can pace your participation and completion based on your own needs, responsibilities and schedule.

Upon completion of the course you will be prepared to deliver Phase A (ONLY) of The ITTM’s Phase A, B & C Model. Mental Health Clinicians, Counsellors, Psychologists & MA students are qualified to deliver Phase A, The Trauma Information Sessions (TIS’s) in full, to a group or to individual clients. Each session builds upon the next and has been very specifically and intentionally designed to gradually build containment, increased self-regulation, hope and motivation. Therefore, selecting one session or another here and there is ABSOLUTELY ILL-ADVISED.  You may, however, see and want to add 1 or 2 specific diagrammatic interventions in the videos you’d like to try or add to your existing bag of tools and this is totally fine (just as many professionals do after attending a workshop on CBT or the like).

Whichever option you choose, your decision to implement all of Phase A or 1 or 2 tools of the ITTM is to agree to uphold your own professional conduct according to your membership organization and/or regional standards which will naturally and automatically include personal responsibility & professional liability. You will also need to remain mindful of appropriately sourcing any ITTM material from this course you use to adhere to the laws of Copyrighted Material. Current and existing research and practice of any portion of the ITTM strictly adheres to and enforces each practitioner’s professional responsibility to uphold the fidelity of the model and it’s outcomes according to the model as depicted, demonstrated and described in the courses and trainings of the ITTM.

There is a Certification Process for becoming an ITTM Certified Practitioner (Phase A, B & C, outlined on the website).

THE LAYOUT OF THE COURSE ITSELF & HOW TO GET THE MOST OUT OF IT

The course is intuitive and easy to navigate. It starts with an overview presenting scientific data and a general description of the ITTM as an evidence-based method in research and practice.

The Introduction presents a video on Hope and Motivation based on Deci and Ryan’s research which lays the foundation for the next 6 lectures that concentrate on Phase A of the ITTM. The 6 lectures build on each other and introduce you to fundamental concepts such as trauma, impact, emotional attunement, parenting pathways, education, behavioral loops and more.

When you purchase the course, you will be able to download The ITTM Training Manual – and the Phase A, Session-By-Session Notes.

**To experience the effectiveness of the diagrams first-hand, it is highly recommended you complete each diagram yourself – using your own details. Your own experience and process of completing them and charting them will be the best evidence of their effectiveness and will provide you with a context and understanding of how you can explain what each one is, how it works, and the positive outcomes the charting process begins to produce within 1 or 2 weeks.

Thank you for taking this course and the best of success in your career!
